The Cancelation from Spain, the Auron Biyin's case

 Hello,

If you want to support me in any way, here's my new PayPal: cavc0424@gmail.com

During these weeks I have been noticing that in Spain the issue of Cancelation is very moved to those streamers / youtubers / influencers for tweets that they published 10 years ago, and this has opened various debates in that community, to give context:

Auronplay, one of the biggest streamers in Spain, and his girlfriend Biyin were part of a group of trolls that made quite disastrous posts about racism, misogyny, xenophobia and the list goes on, they even went so far as to cyber-harass the mother of a missing child, hiding behind in "black humor".

The first discussion is:

-Should they cancel someone for something they posted so long ago?

We have to remember that Twitter has always been one of the most toxic social networks, 10 years ago it was much worse. I think the most coherent thing is to compare the content of these people over time, I mean, do they continue to make the same type of comments? Do they continue to make the same disastrous content? If the answer is Yes, we MUST CANCEL THEM, such people cannot continue on social networks, insulting others.

On this issue in particular, I believe that the change in people must be radical, because we are talking about issues that already border on crime and that can have criminal consequences. 10 years ago the term cyberbullying did not even exist, so it was seen as "normal" to bother people through social networks, it was something that caused discomfort but many of the laws that exist on the internet today had not yet been created, therefore it was allowed to pass or turned a blind eye.

It's also true that at some point in our lives we were all morons (some more than others obviously), I would like to think that this pair of streamers actually acted like that because they were children with a complex who had no other way to show their frustration (that's just what they know), we aren't the same as 10 years ago because we had the ability to change over time and discover what life is about, injustice, empathy and with great luck we could be better than those people we used to be, In this sense, I believe that people can have a second chance, if we genuinely notice that they have had a change of attitude and perspective.

Next situation, a woman recently accused Auron of allegedly having sexual conversations when she was under-age and could even have sent her compromising photos, second debate:

-Should accusations of this type be believed as true when there is no "strong" evidence, just because the victim is a woman?

It's a rather sensitive issue, especially since it has been seen that many women victims of abuse dare to denounce many years after the aggression occurred, in this type of case many times only testimonies are available as evidence. I believe that if a woman makes a complaint of this type, she should immediately have psychological and legal advice, so that a legal process can begin before the corresponding ministry of justice and the law can be applied to the person who violated her. The government must provide guarantees to women so that they can do justice.

Like it or not, there is something called the presumption of innocence, according to this a person accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven otherwise by a court (in this case popular opinion does not have "importance") this is a right that the defendant has and that it intends to protect his/her dignity.

Whether we like it or not, there have also been cases in which the accusations are false and the accused person is innocent and what the other person wanted was to damage their image or reputation, often for revenge or problems of a passionate/personal nature.

In the specific case of Auron, a series of inconsistencies have been seen in the accusations/evidence presented by the woman, which does not mean that she's a liar or that Auron is innocent, but that allows us to visualize how delicate an accusation of this type can be and all the factors involved, since the credibility and dignity of the two people is under public scrutiny. When it comes to these types of cases involving mainstream platforms, I prefer to take a neutral position (luckily none of the people I follow, which are very few, have been involved in such serious accusations), I listen to both versions and I hope that the justice make the best decision. If it was someone that I follow and is guilty of an act of this magnitude, I would stop following him from any platform, simply because I am not going to give views and profits to someone who is capable of causing harm to someone else.

Obviously, many times it's inevitable that we take one side of the story as true when they tell us an event, I think the healthiest thing to do is listen to both versions and if justice has not intervened (for whatever reason) and I already have a criterion in this regard, I have to be consistent with what I think, avoid re-victimization and not support the person I consider guilty (this implies unsubscribing and not consuming any type of content generated by him/her).
