Hello,
this is the entry about Pablo Escobar that I mentioned before,
If you want to support me in any way, here's my new PayPal: cavc0424@gmail.com
My opinion about:
I have many friends who are abroad and they have always told me that people from other countries talk about us as a tropical country (our country has different altitudes, so there are cold cities like Bogotá or very hot cities with sea like Santa Marta), full of drug dealers, drugs (especially coca) and excessively voluptuous women (just like the climates there are also a variety of women).
Obviously the prejudices that other countries have about us are based on
the news about the war in Colombia, the narconovelas, Pablo Escobar and the
occasional Colombian making us look bad, but Colombia and its stereotypes are
the result of all the years of war between the same Colombians. Pop culture has
idealized the figure of Pablo Escobar, however, they don't know where it came
from and what consequences it had in the country.
The Colombian war lasted for years, but what was its origin? And what happens to all the victims of so many years of violence? Unfortunately, the predilection stereotype associated with Colombians is that of the drug dealer, drugs everywhere (something like you can get coke anywhere, for example at Don Pedro's store next to your house), guerrilla and the typical woman with boobs and a giant ass whose main role is to be the wife or lover of the trafficker (narco) on duty.
To understand the stereotype you have to know the history of Colombia (I promise you will not get bored, not for nothing the best narconovelas are written here, in this country reality is stranger than fiction, I will probably divide this story in two).
Between the years 1930 and 1940, political power was divided into two
parties, Conservatives and Liberals, and there were strong rivalries between
the families belonging to these ideological currents. The breaking point
between these parties occurred with the assassination of Jorge Eliecer Gaitán
(April 9, 1948, Gaitán was a candidate of the Liberal party and represented
hope for the popular sectors) by the "conservatives" (32 years later
still The death has not been fully clarified, an accusation was made but there
are many inconsistencies in the testimony), which gave rise to the Bogotazo,
one of the most violent events that occurred in Bogotá (the capital of the
country), which triggered the persecution for part of the liberals towards the
conservatives (this time is known as: La Violencia).
At that time, 220.000 people died and there are 5.3 million displaced persons, these displacements were forced and occurred in situations of extreme violence, many peasants belonging to the liberal party decided to group together and form the Republic of Marquetalia, joining the communists and giving rise to the Guerrilla (this occurs in 1950), at the head of this group was Manuel Marulanda, alias 'Tirofijo' (who would be the first head of the FARC: Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia). The state decides to attack Marquetalia in 1964 which forced the armed peasants to flee, this attack gives rise to the FARC in 1966.
Among their actions are: 'drug trafficking, guerrilla warfare, terrorist techniques such as the implantation of antipersonnel mines, the murder of civilians, members of the government, police and military, kidnapping for political or extortion purposes, attacks with bombs and unconventional weapons (gas cylinders, animal bombs), and acts that have caused the forced displacement of civilians and that according to them is for the well-being of Colombia or they feel compelled to do so to attract attention". In 1964 the cold war and the Cuban revolution and all the communist currents influenced the formation of the National Liberation Army (ELN), which was made up of trade unionists, students and peasants.
Among its actions are: "The ELN kidnaps in order to finance its
organization, although it was called a "political kidnapping" some
kidnappings were in order to exchange them for imprisoned guerrillas, similar
to the actions of the FARC in the search for an "agreement humanitarian".
According to statistics from the Fundación País Libre, 3,293 people have been
kidnapped by the ELN between 2000 and 2007, 153 of whom died in captivity. At
the end of 2008, the ELN held close to 240 kidnap victims.
According to reports from the Colombian Armed Forces, since 2003 the ELN has less financial resources than in the past because pressure from the public forces has prevented it from carrying out kidnappings, its main economic source.” Fragment taken from: https://jusseffmoralese.wixsite.com/guerrillasencolombia/eln
In 1980 the FARC decided that their participation should be political, wanting to get involved in the decisions made by Congress.
Around the same time, Pablo Escobar (the most violent and bloody drug
trafficker in the world) appears, becomes involved in the production,
processing and commercialization of marijuana and cocaine, forming the much
feared and world-renowned Medellín Cartel. Pablo Escobar was one of the richest
men in the world.
Pablo Escobar
He ventured into political life (which would give rise to Narcopolitics, a practice that unfortunately is still in force) and was a representative of the Chamber in Congress in 1982. After the accusations made by El Espectador (one of the most renowned newspapers of the country) and Rodrigo Lara Bonilla, in which Escobar is accused of illegal business, loses his seat in Congress. (The director of El Espectador and Rodrigo Lara are assassinated by order of Escobar).
To be continue...
